Three Days in London

Guided by Friendship: An Unplanned Journey Through London and Its Surroundings

Flew in to London from Amsterdam with my dear friend Sherry. London is simply very accessible from anywhere in the world because of its excellent air connections. The first experience was underwhelming, as I had very high expectations of London. I wanted London to be romantic, and fairy-tale stuff of some sorts because of all that royal history. But it was nothing like that. It was busy, crowded and very fast paced. Nevertheless, this is where I had best time on this trip because of my friend Sherry.

London is very multicultural and renowned for its extensive history, enduring landmarks, and rich cultural offerings. I stayed at Sherry's house in South Hall.

So Sherry was my guide and I didn't plan anything in London. The only thing I have got to share from this trip to London are photos with location names in the captions. I, myself, didn't plan anything, therefore not in position to give you where and how to go as I was driven everywhere.

If you're looking for recommendations then do visit the West End to see some of the city’s famous theatres. Go around where London Eye is. Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and Houses of Parliament are all worth visiting.

When at night time Sherry took me to show around the city, I was struck by the sheer grandeur of the city. I was in awe of how big the night life is there. Trafalgar Square in Central London is very lively. I would not have experienced the city's culture, history and sight seeing the same way as I did with Sherry. I also had the wonderful experience of visiting the Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon, arranged by my cousin Nadeem and his wife.

Day trip to Durdle Door from London

The Jurassic Coast at Lulworth in Dorset, South England, is home to the limestone arch structure known as Durdle Door. A favourite spot for tourists and hikers, it is one of the most photographed coastal natural features. A short, steep trail leads from the nearby West Lulworth parking lot to it. The arch is made of Portland limestone and measures around 160 feet in length and 90 feet in height. The softer rock behind the arch was eroded, forming a structure like a window.

After few days of sightseeing and exploring the city of London, it was time to take the next step of my adventure and move on to Zurich. We said our goodbyes to each other and I packed my bag, filled with fond memories of London and all the amazing experiences we had. As I was being dropped off at the airport really early in the morning, I knew that I wouldn't have enjoyed London at all without my loveliest dear fiend Sherry. I set off on the next leg of my journey, excited to explore the wonders of Zurich, Switzerland and create more incredible memories that I would cherish forever.
